VMRO-DPMNE - Internal Macedonian Revolutionary Organization – Democratic Party for Macedonian National Unity - (Vnatrešna makedonska revolucionerna organizacija – Demokratska partija za makedonsko nacionalno edinstvo)

Nationalist party describing itself as a Christian Democratic; supports the admission of Macedonia to NATO and the European Union. It is ethnically based, claiming that "the party's goals and objectives express the tradition of the Macedonian people on whose political struggle and concepts it is based".

SDSM - Social Democratic Union/Alliance of Macedonia - (Socijaldemokratski sojuz na Makedonija)

Founded in 1943. Formerly known as League of Communists of Macedonia—Party of Democratic Reform. Contested the 2008 legislative elections as main member of Sun Coalition for Europe.

DUI/BDI - Democratic Union for Integration - (Demokratska unija za integracija/Bashkimi Demokratik për Integrim)

Founded in 2002. Ethnic Albanian, dominated by former members of rebel National Liberation Army.

DPA/PDS - Democratic Party of Albanians - (Demokratska Partija na Albancite/Partia Demokratike Shqiptare)

Founded in 1997, officially registered 2002. Absorbed the Party for Democratic Prosperity in 2008.

NDP/RDK - National Democratic Revival - (Nacionalna DemokratskaPrerodba/Rilindja Demokratike Kombëtare)

Founded in 2011. Ethnic Albanian.
